Engine fixin

Heres a quick video showing how we replaced the valve springs when they broke on our way to oban with no wind (we really needed it!) Note that you would normally take the cylinder head off to replace them but my brother and I came up with a plan........

  1. Hi Dan

Great to read your blog - fantastic to see Hestur launched and sailing and to read that you are so happy with her.

Badger, too, would always sail herself to windward, even before we fitted the skeg - yes, even with the original, disastrous rudder (which is probably why it took us a little while to realise what was wrong). You've done a gorgeous job on the boat - and so quickly, too. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

  2. Wow, that engine room is enormous! Large enough for two to work on the engine and a third to video the action! Curious, why did you decide to go with a prop-shaft through the skeg rather than a sail-drive motor? How is the angle of the prop-shaft and motor?
